The Story of the Butterfly

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.
One day a small opening appeared.
He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours
as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole.
Then it stopped, as if it couldn't go further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and
snipped off the remaining bits of cocoon.
The butterfly emerged easily but
it had a swollen body and shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch it,
expecting that any minute the wings would enlarge
and expand enough to support the body,
Neither happened!
In fact the butterfly spent the rest of its life
crawling around.
It was never able to fly.

What the man in his kindness
and haste did not understand:
The restricting cocoon and the struggle
required by the butterfly to get through the opening
was a way of forcing the fluid from the body
into the wings so that it would be ready
for flight once that was achieved.

Sometimes struggles are exactly
what we need in our lives.
Going through life with no obstacles would cripple us.
We will not be as strong as we could have been
and we would never fly.

It's really hard to be a platoon sergeant. It's not easy to manage both studies with my sec1 cadets. I really made a big mess out of certain things.

It was last month, when I was really studying hard for to improve my grades. And yeah, my results improved tremendously compared to SA1. I managed to achieve 439/700 for my SA2 result slip. Although there are still areas for me to work on like Maths if I wanna take up Diploma in Hotel and Leisure facilities management ( ELR2B2 = 14 ) after my Os, all my hard work finally paid off.

That's where the problem comes. I was so engrossed with my grades that I completely neglected my sec1 cadets. When the NCO course registration started, I just messaged them the NCO course website. I thought that they were mature enough to sign up for NCO course on their own. And obviously I was wrong.

Out of my 17 cadets, only 9 of them signed up for the course. Yeah, I obviously cried like an idiot. Imagine you training your people since the start of the year to train them up for their promotion, and this is what you get in the end.

Sometimes I really feel like giving up SJAB. You know? Just give up my position as a platoon sergeant, give up my sergeant rank, give up my position in exco, and just study hard for the O level. I am really confused now. I just wanna leave SJAB as soon as possible and prepare for my O level. Cos' I am too sad and tired to carry on.

FDC Competition 2011

After all the months of hardwork. We ended up getting third ( with no trophies ). Yeah, it was a hard day. I personally found the marks really biased. But nevertheless, I hope the juniors will be able to pick up what we have learnt and improve on the mistakes so that it will benefit our juniors in future. :)

Jonathan, Faris, Zhong Ying, Sock Yan, Melinda Roderick, Le Xin, Adilah. We were awesome.

Next year FAC, i hope that I can help our corps win something. It's hard to accept many things after so many defeats. Shall work hard towards winning after my End of Year Exams. That's the last thing i can do as a cadet before graduating.

Went for SJAB Farewall Party with the cliques. After that, we went for lunch and then Me,Melinda,Amirah & Aqilah got this crazy idea of movie of watching movie. And we really did it! And it was so last minute! Fun. (:

The drinks we shared. :D

The movie was so nice! Had a good laugh with Aqilah when Melinda can't stop laughing. Hahaha.

Friday ( Today! )

Went for Civil Defence course with the sec2 & sec3 cliques. The whole course was boring! But luckily we managed to entertain ourselves with note passing cos' we were not allowed to talk so loud. And I came out with the idea of the Royal Wedding. Cool!
